A Winning Team
The Seattle Sports Commission's (SSC) goal is to help prevent obesity among Washington's youth through the Powered by You fitness movement. Together with health organizations and sponsors, public and private leaders can make a difference and reverse these negative trends.

Your Community Partner
As part of its mission to serve Washington, the SSC will brand the health initiative as a comprehensive sports marketing program to promote healthy lifestyles to young people in Washington. It will use the power of sports, coaches, role models and peer pressure to educate, change attitudes and empower residents statewide.

The message to youth in Washington is "Your life, health and performance are Powered by You."  This program helps to empower Washington's youth to make good choices, because it is ultimately their decision to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Nothing Beats Experience
The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) will create, implement and manage the Powered by You fitness movement and the SUBWAY Washington Games.  Ralph Morton, Executive Director, has a proven track record in leading statewide sporting events. Before coming to Seattle, he managed the Louisiana State Games Foundation for five years. There, he was instrumental in successfully implementing one of the first statewide tobacco prevention initiatives in Louisiana.  The Louisiana Games involved 15,000 youth participants statewide and included 35 events.

Evergreen State Amateur Athletic Council
The SSC will manage the day to day operations of the Evergreen State Amateur Athletic Council, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that has the purpose of running the SUBWAY Washington Games annually.

September N.F.L. Recipe 2
Here are some healthy and fun recipes from Parents Magazine, September 2009, that the whole family will enjoy.

Recipe 2:

Sliced Apple Sandwiches

Cut the top off an apple and slice the apple into 8 slices. Each will have a star shape in the middle, from the apple core. Spray with lemon juice to prevent browning, then spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter and a little strawberry jam between 2 slices to make sandwiches.
